Vallesaccarda Wind Farm
The plant was developed in two separated steps, the first one concerning the basic configuration of n.10 1,5 MW wind turbines, and the second one focused on the plant's upgrade, which increased its overall capacity to 22,5MW (20 wind turbine generators).
The project development was primarily founded on this main guidelines:
- Energy optimisation: maximize energy production reducing occupied surface. Reliability of the generators
- Keep a safe distance between each turbine and the houses nearby (at close distance) (not less than 500m)
- Low visual impact
- Minimise magnetic fields intensity using interconnections cables
All the development procedure had been handled according to the Regione Campania's guidelines and the project was financed trough a “limited recourse” project financing scheme.
Foster Wheeler Italiana was the EPC contractor of the project.
The plant started its commercial operation on January 2006, and it's capable to produce up to 45 GWh/year of electric energy; enough power to feed about 15.000 homes, lowering CO2 emissions for 29.000 t/year.
With reference to Vallesaccarda site, FW Power has implied an Environmental Management System (EMS), in accordance with the UNI EN ISO 14001 standard and CE n.761/01 (EMAS II) regulations, created to manage the plant's environmental and safety issues, in the most efficient and responsible way.
